Myka and 'Bruce' the drum
Myka Peterson
Percussion

mpeterson09@cornellcollege.edu

Joined the EIBB in the fall of 2008. Started playing mallet instruments in high school in 2004.
Myka also plays the flute (for about 11 years, the oboe (for about 10 years), handbells (for about 12 years) and the steel drum (for about 3 years).

Grew up in Albia, IA.
Myka is currently working on BAs in Math and Computer Science at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA.

As of this writing, Myka has only been with the band a few weeks, so her memories are few, but fresh! She says, "So far, I really like The Clock and the Dresden Figures; it's fun, but it's the only piece I've played."
A real picture is coming soon.

During Cornell's block breaks, Myka likes to go home and see her parents, younger brother and sister, and her cat. Her mom did daycare in their home for 16 years, so it was lucky that she love kids-she does a lot of baby-sitting in Albia during block breaks.
At Cornell, she plays oboe in band and lead in the steel band (Pandemonium rocks!).
When she's not in class or some sort of rehearsal, she enjoys reading a good book, watching Star Trek, or surfing the web.
